So today’s the last day of our…dun, dun, dun…OOTD week! I really hope you guys enjoyed it. I know I enjoyed posting it. Today, our item is a very trendy piece.
Here’s the item of the day:
The is an off the shoulder, baby blue top from New York and Company. I purchased this last season before the end of summer. At first glance, it seems to be very basic but if you look closely, you’ll notice the slight flare toward the end of the sleeve as well as the curved hemline. Both features are flattering and elevates it a notch. Although a trendy piece, due to the neckline, the flare in the sleeve isn’t what we’ve seen this season with the frills. My favorite of the details, would be the hemline. It doesn’t look like much laying flat but on, it almost has the effect of a slit.
Let’s get into the options…
This option is super cute. Typically, I’m not a fan of shorts but this year I’ve grown to have more of an appreciation for my body. So, I’ve introduced bermuda shorts into my life, a happy medium. These were around $23 and are from Target’s Mossimo brand. They are very stretchy, slightly distressed, medium wash and come equipped with a cuff. If you’re interested, you can see them here. I wish I could’ve gotten my hands on the darker wash too but I waited too late in the season. I paired them with my neutral Bandolino slides from TJ Maxx.
This option is interesting because although the jeans fit long on me, they are actually cut offs. These jeans are extremely comfortable even though they have absolutely no stretch. I usually run into the issue of pants fitting in the thigh area and being excessively large in the waist and this is no exception. Another element I don’t love about them is the ridiculously long button fly. I don’t mind the buttons but I feel that I’ve seen this “mile long” fly in a lot of designs. I’m not sure if it’s a plus size thing or if they are meant to be high waisted. I’ve considered getting them tailored for a better fit but they aren’t horrible. I’ll let you know if I do. As I’ve grown older, I enjoy more relaxed fitted items. Relaxed fitting is fine but ill fitting is a no-no. You can be sexy without showing your body or having everything be so snug and that’s what I really like about this option. This is definitely one of those “leave it to the imagination” outfits but it’s cool because it doesn’t make you look outdated or stuffy. These jeans are from Asos and were $56. I paired them because they mirrored the flare in the sleeves. See them here.
So the question is which option did I decide to wear today? Which pair of jeans did you like most? Was it Option #1 or Option #2? Let me know in the comments and head over to Instagram around 3 pm to see what I decided to wear today. This concludes…dun, dun, dun…my week of OOTDs.
