#Blog Elul: Elul 27-Bless

Hey Y’all Screenshot_20170813-092414.jpg

So today’s word is Bless. Have you ever thought you knew about a word until you had to define it? That’s this word and it could be because it’s one of those overused words that has long since lost its meaning. It’s not rare to hear someone say they are blessed but it seems that it’s only used as a term to describe financial stability. I think it’s so much more than that. So let’s see how Dictionary.com defines it. It’s a verb which means to pronounce words in a religious rite, to confer or invoke divine favor upon; ask God to look favorably on.

When I think of blessing or to bless, I think of Shalom. Shalom is a Hebrew word that means nothing missing, nothing broken which encompasses peace. So what would this post be without pronouncing blessings over you guys.

I decree and declare that the favor of the Most High will fall on you. Your entire household and those connected to you will walk in their divine purposes. Love, Joy and Peace will overtake you and your steps shall be ordered by the Lord forever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. Congratulations, you have now been blessed! How does it feel? Do you feel blessed?

The truth is I did bless you and you may have been blessed before. Nothing may have changed about you physically but the power is in how you receive it. When we really receive, we act like we already have because we really do, it just hasn’t physically manifested. If someone has blessed you and pronounced money to come to you and you didn’t receive the word in your heart, you repel prosperity. Your blessing becomes a curse and you will continue to act poor and therefore, attract poverty. The opposite is also true. When a woman suspects she’s pregnant, she doesn’t show up with a baby. In fact, it takes a while for anyone to even notice that she’s showing but she’s already began preparing. Some women never show but they have received the news that this is what’s going on inside of them and the prepare for the manifestation months before the baby comes. This is the same concept; if you receive the blessing, even though it might not have been manifested in that instant, the Bible says that it will be counted to you as righteousness.

Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.-Genesis 15:4-6

So believe you have received and act like it because whether you believe the Bible or not it’s simply putting the law of attraction to work.

Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it. See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

– Deuteronomy 30:11-20

And as I researched more I found that a couple of things are required to get and or maintain the blessing. First, you must be a priest. Don’t worry, you don’t need a white collar to be a priest but you must obey and have a willingness to bless as you were so freely blessed. In the temple, the priest presented sacrifices on behalf of the people but they couldn’t do that if they didn’t enter properly. What do I mean by that? There’s only one way to God and it’s through Jesus, the Messiah. Any other way is wrong, this is confirmed by the Tabernacle of Moses, one way in. Secondly, the priest had to accept the burnt (total) sacrifice which was the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as the remission of sin. Then, the priest were required to wash their hands (service unto others) and their feet (personal walk). This laver had glass in the top so as they washed the saw their reflection and was reminded that they had to be dealt with before dealing with other’s sin. Then, they could enter the Holy Place where they interceded on everyone else’s behalf. etc.

  • Priest-through Christ we have been given direct access to God, just like a priest; thus the doctrine is called the priesthood of all believers. God is equally accessible to all the faithful, and every Christian has equal potential to minister for God.
  • Obedience
  • Willingness to bless

You are more than a conqueror, you are the head not the tail, above and never beneath, blessed coming and going; in the city and in the fields. You are the salt of the earth and God’s most prized possession. You are an ambassador of the Kingdom of God. You are loved with an everlasting, undying love. You are His beloved and He is yours…and you are blessed.

Do you define it the same? What is included when you bless someone?
