This year we are moving differently and although I’ve been sick for literally all 3 weeks of January and have been slightly uninspired, we are pushing past it!
So as you know this year I have a theme. This has been such a big help for me because despite me being uninspired it puts me back on track. The first part of my theme was “Be the Light,” but how? How can you become light? Light as in weight? What is light exactly? So let’s get a definition to work from…
I love these definitions…from these, we still must ask, how? How do you stimulate sight? My answer is that you first have to figure out what you want to make more visible. What is dark? What’s the problem? What’s the mystery that people can’t wrap their heads around? What can I provide that will help?
I’ve had a really hard time with this. You can go anywhere on the World Wide Web to figure out why no one is reading your blog, makeup tips and tricks, recipes, weight loss routines and ideas for what you should eat for it and there’s nothing wrong with being one more person to help with those issues. There is room for everyone.
I want to make you better for being subscribed. I want you to embrace your differences and to stimulate your creativity in doing so. I want to ignite your will to be better, to live better, to look better, to be better intellectually, to have more hope and joy. I want to ignite not only you but myself to live and not just exist; all of which may include those things that everyone else provides.
There is darkness all around us and it’s easy to get sucked in, to go day by day with no excitement or joy but what I’m learning about light is you can want it but until you command it, darkness will remain. I want to provide joy, I want to bring positive energy to this part of the Internet.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)
I want you to see that God has amazing things in store for you but I also want to be the voice of reason to let you know that you can’t just depend on God to do it for you; you must work, you must sacrifice, you must be honest and you must be faithful to do all that you know to do. I plan on doing this by not just wanting it, not just telling you but showing you, by being transparent by letting you know about my journey of moving past mere existence into life.
If my journey this far has taught me anything, it’s about persistence and being honest about where I am. I haven’t always been motivated but I also haven’t been scared to let you know how frustrated I had become. A lot of times probably more than I can count I was frustrated with the process but I didn’t stay there. I was honest about it and I persevered despite how I felt. So my goal is to shed light on that…you can, not feel like it and still accomplish your goals, have joy, peace and prosperity. You can do this by doing at least one thing everyday that moves you toward your goal…the scarier the better.
Here’s 4 tips to be the light wherever you go…
First, choose an area that you want to affect positively. What do I want my life to look like? I want to get better intellectually, professionally, physically, spiritually and emotionally.
Second, choose a plan of action.
Intellectually- I will to enhance my vocabulary by reading and learning new words
Professionally- I will do better with promoting We, The Peculiars and see it as an opportunity to serve others
Physically- I will move for at least 15 mins a day and drink more water to improve what is presented to represent properly
Spiritually- I will meditate at least 2 mins a day with scripture and deep breathing. I will also focus on at least 3 things I am grateful for each day
Emotionally- I will laugh more. I will also intentionally smile more and look to bless people with one random act of kindness a day. I will journal as well.
Third, track progress.
Intellectually- continue book reviews, continue “Building Vocabularies Ova Here” efforts on Instagram-step it up by integrating new words into daily life.
Professionally- post of Instagram at least once a day-step it up by posting when I have a blog avaiable
Physically- STEP IT UP!!
Spiritually- continue to share scriptures on Instagram and continue to write 3 things I’m grateful for everyday- step it up with standing on the Word
Emotionally- continue journaling-step it up by journaling twice a day and be more consistent and creative with the random acts of kindness
Lastly, make changes. No excuses. ILLUMINATE
