Hey Y’all Screenshot_20170813-092414.jpg

I hope you had a lovely weekend. I did. I had Shabbat on Friday, spent Saturday clean, singing and dancing, then I met up with my mentor and spent the rest of the night brainstorming with her on some plans. Sunday, I went to church and had a Po Boy with Jen. After that, I went to sleep, meaning I slept the rest of the night. I woke up long enough to read a chapter of “Don’t Settle for Safe” by Sarah Jakes Roberts and then went back to sleep. It was really hard for me to get outta bed this morning.

I read somewhere that successful people are aware of the limited number of decisions we have at our disposal so they don’t like to waste them on trivial things such as clothing options. It’s a thought process called Decision Fatigue. To conserve their decisions, they typically wear the same thing which ends up becoming their “uniform.” Think of Bill Gates, Frankie Beverly, Mark Zuckerberg, former President Barack Obama and even Karl Lagerfeld. Thus, keeping that decision available for something more important. If you are interesting in learning more about Decision Failure, click here.

Not that I don’t plan on being successful, because I do but it’s very effortless for me. Today, this top stood out to me and I put it on. Although it was a decision, maybe it was more of a subconscious thing because it was really simple, it caught my eye and that was that. I turned around saw the pants and everything else just kinda came together. For the first time in a while I felt like I looked like myself and wanted to share that with you.

First of all, y’all know black and white is a staple around here. I see this ensemble as simple and comfortable with a little pop of color. I’m in love with graphics so the houndstooth with stripes was cool for me and really personalized it. Another element is like is the ruffle in the top. It’s in a weird location and it elevates a simple striped top to slightly more feminine vibe. The pants are interesting piece by themselves. They are houndstooth on the front and black on the back and are a thicker texture than a typical legging which makes it acceptable to wear to work. This outfit could have easily been a dressy work outfit had I paired it with heels but I am feeling the sneakers for a more casual appeal, which I usually go for anyway. Even in terms of the sneakers, it would’ve been safe to choose a black or even a black and white pair instead but I thought the gray was different and kinda balances out the femininity for a slightly grown up tomboy look. What do you guys think of this fit? Would you wear it? Have you heard of Decision Failure before?
